Colchester Deanery Chapter
All Church of England Clergy living or working
in the Deanery of Colchester are invited to fellowship as part of the
Deanery Chapter, including licensed ministers, those with Permission
to Officiate, and retired ministers.
We meet around 6 times per year. Our usual programme includes a Social evening in January, a Lunchtime Meeting in June, House of Clergy Meetings in March and September, and Holy Communion followed by a Chapter Breakfast in November.
Dates, times and venues for future meetings can be viewed on our Calendar page.
The Colchester Clerical Society meets for fellowship, talks and lunch on the second Monday of each month.
The 2016 programme is available here. All of our ministers - and those of other denominations around Colchester - will be welcomed.
Here's the latest note to all Licensed Clergy, dated 5th February 2016:
Dear Colchester Deanery Synod House of Clergy member,
Following the Revd Jeremy Noles new appointment outside our Deanery, there is now a vacancy for one clergy member on the Deanery Joint Standing and Pastoral Committee. It is the committee's wish that this casual vacancy be filled by an election during the next meeting of Colchester Deanery Synod on the evening of 25th February 2016.
If you wish to stand for this election, please would you complete the attached nomination form. If there are two or more nominations then there will be a secret balloted election by members of the House of Clergy to fill the vacancy during the aforementioned Deanery Synod meeting.
Please return completed nomination forms to the House of Clergy Presiding Officer, Canon Roger Ennals Lay Chair by the 25th February 2016. Although nomination forms can be handed in on the evening of the Deanery Synod meeting, it would help in the arrangements for a possible ballot if they were with Roger before the 25th February 2016.
Further information regarding the work expected from committee members can be obtained either from Roger or the Area Dean.
Lay Secretary, Colchester Deanery Synod.
